The story of I.D.E.A.S for Boys & Men is one born out of passion, concern, and an unwavering hope for the future of our nation’s young men. Officially founded on January 2, 2025, the organization was created in direct response to a reality we could no longer ignore — the silent crisis facing boys and men in Saint Lucia.
In neighborhoods, schools, and homes across the island, it had become increasingly evident that too many of our young men were falling through the cracks. Issues of educational underachievement, mental health struggles, fatherlessness, unemployment, and social disconnection painted a sobering picture of the challenges confronting the male population. But rather than accept this as the status quo, a group of concerned and passionate young changemakers came together with a bold vision: to reignite hope and restore purpose in the hearts of Saint Lucia’s boys and men.
What started as informal conversations, community meet-ups, and mentoring sessions soon took on a life of its own. Fueled by a shared mission, I.D.E.A.S — Initiative for Development, Elevation, and Support — was officially established as a registered, not-for-profit, non-governmental, community-based organization headquartered in Castries North, Saint Lucia.
From the very beginning, the mission was clear: to address the male crisis in Saint Lucia by providing mentorship, education, leadership opportunities, and safe spaces for personal growth. The group aimed to serve as a co-operative body in the pursuit of activities that promote the welfare and well-being of boys and men, while advocating for policies and partnerships that uplift and empower.
Since our founding, I.D.E.A.S for Boys & Men has made meaningful strides in laying the foundation for sustainable male development initiatives. Some of our proudest milestones include:
Partnering with media groups, government-based organizations, an online learning platform, and faith-based organizations to create safe spaces for dialogue on manhood, mental health, and personal growth.
Hosting a successful "Fathers Save Lives" became one of our most impactful early initiatives. These gatherings brought fathers, mentors, and young men together in safe, honest spaces to share experiences, discuss fatherhood, and confront the challenges of modern manhood.
Being officially registered under the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment, solidifying our role as a recognized advocate for male development in Saint Lucia.
While our journey is still young, each achievement marks a step closer to our vision.
As we reflect on our humble beginnings, we are proud of how far we’ve come — and even more inspired by the road ahead. I.D.E.A.S for Boys & Men remains rooted in the belief that when we invest in the well-being, education, and leadership of our boys and men, we are investing in the future of our country.
And so, with hearts full of purpose and hope, we continue the work we began on that January day, knowing that the best is yet to come.
